Community Guidelines
Last Updated: October 17, 2026
These guidelines apply to everyone who uses TapCanvas and to everything people share in it: published Projects with their titles, descriptions, previews and videos, comments, usernames and profile pictures. They are part of our Terms of Service.
You accept them before your first comment and before you first submit a Project for publishing. Breaking them can get content held, limited or removed, and an account restricted.
The rules
Each rule below matches a reason you can choose when you report something.
Sexual content
TapCanvas is for people 13 and older, so everything shared in it must be suitable for that audience: Projects, their previews and videos, comments, usernames and profile pictures.
Not allowed:
- Nudity or sexual activity, in images, video, audio, text or generated media.
- Sexually explicit or pornographic content, or links to it.
- Sexual remarks or requests aimed at another person.
Anything sexual that involves a minor is covered by the child safety rule below, and is never allowed.
Violent or graphic content
Not allowed:
- Gore, or realistic images of serious injury or death meant to shock.
- Threats of violence against a person or a group.
- Content that praises or promotes terrorism, violent extremism or mass violence.
- Content that encourages anyone to hurt themselves, including suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
Games and stories with non-graphic, cartoon or fantasy combat are allowed.
Hateful content
Not allowed:
- Attacking, dehumanising or calling for the exclusion of people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, serious illness, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
- Slurs and hateful stereotypes.
- Symbols, images or Projects that promote a hateful ideology or group.
Harassment and bullying
Not allowed:
- Insults, threats or degrading remarks aimed at a person.
- Sharing someone’s private information, such as their home address, phone number, private messages or private photos.
- Repeatedly targeting someone, or encouraging others to pile on.
- Unwanted sexual attention.
- Using a new account to get around someone’s block.
Real people and impersonation
Don’t use a real person’s name, face, voice or likeness in a Project without their consent, and don’t pretend to be someone you are not.
Not allowed:
- Pretending to be another person, a creator, a company or brand, or TapCanvas staff.
- Fake images, video or audio of a real person (deepfakes) made without their consent.
- A username or profile picture that misleads people about who you are.
Parody and commentary are allowed when they are clearly labelled and do not mislead anyone.
Scams, phishing and misleading content
Not allowed:
- Projects that ask for passwords, sign-in codes, payment card details or other sensitive information, or that imitate a sign-in page.
- Malware, or code that tries to harm a device, get around a Project’s sandbox or reach data without permission.
- Scams, fake giveaways, and get-rich-quick or investment schemes.
- A title, description or preview that misrepresents what a Project does.
Copied work and brands
Publish only what you made or have the right to share.
Not allowed:
- Someone else’s code, art, music, video, writing or Project, published as yours or without their permission.
- Logos, brand names or trademarks used in a way that suggests their owner made or endorses your Project.
If you build on someone else’s published Project, change it meaningfully and don’t present their work as yours. If you own a copyright and believe a Project infringes it, you can also send a notice under the Terms of Service (Copyright and DMCA).
Spam and fake engagement
Not allowed:
- Posting the same or a similar comment again and again, or comments that only advertise.
- Fake likes, opens or follows: from bots or extra accounts, or bought, sold or traded.
- Publishing many near-identical Projects.
Likes, opens and follows that we find to be fake may not be counted.
Child safety
We do not allow any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers children: child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). There are no exceptions.
Not allowed:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, whether real, drawn or generated by AI.
- Content that sexualises minors, including sexual comments about a minor.
- Grooming: contacting or building trust with a minor for a sexual purpose, or asking a minor for images.
- Sextortion, child trafficking, or content that promotes or explains how to do them.
- Content that encourages minors to do something dangerous.
A single report about child safety holds the content at once, and that hold is never lifted automatically. When we find this content we remove it, restrict the account permanently, keep the evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and, where the law requires it, to the authorities.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Links
A comment that contains a link is held for review before anyone else sees it; until then only you can see it, marked “Pending review”.
Links anywhere in Projects, descriptions or comments must not lead to anything these guidelines prohibit, such as sexual content, scams, malware or copied work.
Illegal content and anything else
Don’t publish or post anything that is illegal, or that breaks the Terms of Service. If something breaks these guidelines in a way the rules above don’t name, report it with “Something else”.
How we enforce these guidelines
- Review before publishing. A person reviews every Project submitted for publishing. Projects must be suitable for everyone 13 and older; a Project that is not is not published.
- Automatic checks. Every comment is checked automatically before it appears, for links and for terms on a short blocked list. A comment that matches is held for review.
- Holds. When several established accounts report the same Project or comment, or anyone reports a child safety problem, it is held automatically until a person reviews it. A held Project is not shown on Home, in similar Projects, in search or in search engines, but its link still works; a held comment is visible only to its author. If no decision has been made after 72 hours, an automatic hold is lifted while the review continues; a hold for child safety is never lifted automatically.
- Decisions. After a review we may take no action; limit a Project, so that it is no longer shown on Home, in similar Projects, in search or in search engines but still opens by its link, for a set time or with no end; remove a Project or a comment; remove a profile picture; stop an account from commenting, for a set time or with no end; or, for severe breaches, remove the content and stop the account from commenting and from submitting Projects. We may also suspend or close accounts under the Terms of Service.
- Statements of reasons. When we restrict your content or your account, we tell you in the app: what we did, where it applies and for how long, the facts we relied on, whether it followed a report or our own review, whether automated tools were involved, the rule or law it is based on, and how you can challenge it.
- Creators’ tools. Creators can remove comments on their own Projects, approve or remove other people’s comments the automatic checks held there, pin and heart comments, turn comments off, and block people. A comment its Project’s creator removes shows its author “Removed by the creator”. Creators can also unlist or withdraw their own Projects at any time.
Reporting
Report a Project, a comment or an account from its ⋮ menu: on a Project card or page, in a running Project’s menu, on a comment (or by long-pressing it), or on a creator’s page. Choose the reason that fits best, and add details if you like.
If you believe something is illegal, choose “I believe this is illegal” and tell us why, which law it breaks, the country, and your name; an email address is optional. We confirm every report, and we tell you the outcome.
We never tell the person you reported who reported them. Reports that repeatedly turn out to be unfounded count for less.
Without an account, send a notice by email. Include the link to the content; why you believe it is illegal or breaks these guidelines and, for illegal content, which law and which country; your name and email address; and a statement that you believe, in good faith, that your notice is accurate and complete. You do not need to give your name to report child sexual abuse material.

How quickly we respond
We review reports and notices, and decide on them, within these times:
- Reports about child safety: the same day.
- Notices of illegal content: within 2 business days.
- All other reports: within 7 days.
Blocking
You can block anyone from their profile or from the ⋮ menu on their creator page. When you block someone:
- their Projects no longer appear on your Home, in similar Projects, in your search results or in creator lists;
- their comments and replies are hidden from you, and you get no notifications from them;
- they can no longer comment on your Projects or reply to your comments;
- if you open one of their Projects by its link, you are told that you blocked them, and you can unblock them there.
Their public content stays public. Blocking does not change ratings or opens. You can unblock at any time.
If you disagree with a decision
If you disagree with a decision about your content, your account or your report, reply to the notice by writing to the address below and tell us why; we will look at it again. You can also go to court and, if you are in the EU, to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
